How to Read Music Sheet – Learning the Basic Structure Of a Music Sheet

Learning how to read music sheetcan be intimidating most especially for people without musical background. The music sheet is arranged using a specific structure. The staff of the music sheet is composed of details needed to be able to read music. It conveys what notes a musician needs to play.

Studying the basic structure of a music sheet is important on how to read music sheet. Each song is written on a staff. A staff is made up of five lines and four spaces. Every single space and line describes a note. The staff is basically composed of notes, a clef sign, a key signature, a time signature, and other different marks which affect the pitch and tempo of every note.

Music is written either in a treble clef or a bass clef. The clefs are utilized to be able to know the octave of the notes and the notes to be played. The treble clef is used for instruments with a high pitch such as the violin, trumpet, flute, and oboe. The lines on this clef represent the notes E, G, B, D, and F; while the spaces represent the notes F, A, C, and E.

On the other hand, the bass clef is utilized for instruments with low pitch like the trombone and tuba. On this clef the lines are representative of the notes G, B, D, F, and A; while the spaces are representative of the notes A, C, E, and G.

The key signature is a sharp or flat symbol found in the right side of aclef sign. It is used to assign notes which remain sharp or flat. If a piece of music has no sharp or flat symbols, it indicates that it is in the key of C.

The symbol marking or a fraction near the start of the staff is called a time signature. The time signature dictates the number of notes that will be played per measure. Every measure is divided by a vertical line. It is located after the key signature but it should be before any notes on the staff.

These are the basic things an aspiring musician should know to be able to read a music sheet. However, to gain more knowledge on how to read music sheet, one should enroll in music lessons. An excellent music education is greatly useful in learning how to play an instrument.

Booking wedding singers and wedding bands

January 20th, 2012

Wedding Turntable

It is very important to make sure that you get the right wedding singers for your wedding party. However, without proper knowledge on how to do that one can find it very challenging searching for bands for hire.  The first thing one should do is start shopping around for the wedding bands well in advance of the the wedding day as it can take a while before finding the best band to entertain the wedding guests. The first place one can start is on the internet as many entertainers advertise their business online and they list what services they can offer and their contact details. Another way to look for the bands is to ask around from other entertainment providers,  or wedding planners. The next step is searching for a band that is able to play a variety of music because it can be hard to know what kind of music the guests will find most entertaining from jazz bands to wedding music bands. Since it can be challenging to determine the crowds’ music, it is better to have a variety of sample songs. There are several bands that can perform a variety of music and some come with already mixed music to sample for the crowd. These are the first steps to booking a wedding band to perform on the special day.

The next thing is to establish just how many instruments you would want to playing in the wedding party. Check this with the band that you have chosen so that you can be sure that on the wedding day everything you want you and your guests to hear will be there. These might include saxophones, pianos and other instruments. Not all bands have these equipments and those that don’t might need time to search and hire which might even cost them and ultimately cost you as well. So, it is good to look for a band that has almost all musical instruments that might be needed. Another important thing to ask is how much space they might need to perform. This is because some wedding parties are held in very small venues for just a few invites while the band might be requiring a larger space in which to perform. Another thing is to know how long they would be able to perform for your guests. Will they perform until dawn the following morning if the party is going to last all night long, or they will perform for just a few hours and leave to another event? This question will help getting wedding bands that are committed to your event.

Finally, the last thing that is of great importance is how much it would cost to book the band for the day or for the few hours that you might need. Discussing how much you would be willing to spend with the band and agreeing is very important so that you have an agreement before they set up their equipment and start performing.

Celebrate Your Birthday With Live Tribute Bands

January 20th, 2012

Crowd in front of stage

Jason turned 17 on November 9, 2011. Doing something very special for his last birthday before turning 18 and leaving home for college was an irresistible opportunity. While discussing the issue, hiring a live band seemed to be an extra-added attraction. We wanted a group who played high calibre, loud, rock and roll music. Music that would create a birthday bash everyone invited would rave about for years to come. We wanted the kind of sound that the whole neighbourhood could hear, but yet too captivating to render complaints. Envisioning 30-40 energetic, hard to please teenagers having the time of their lives, dancing, cajoling and rip it up, rock and rolling was one of the main intentions. Consider it a pre-requisite called “Party Down 101″ college style.
Researching prices in the classified ads under “bands for hire” “bands”, and “tribute bands“, the facts revealed themselves. Bands that were popular and likely to have a huge impact on any party were much more expensive. This is one reason why the ingenuity of tribute bands proved so brilliant.

Tribute bands to hire are a group of talented musicians who play cover songs written by a band whose popularity topped the charts. One example of a very talented tribute band is a group of California natives named “Wild Child”. They played music created by the eclectic 1960’s rock and roll sensation known as “The Doors”. They were one of Jason’s favourite bands. The best thing about hiring a tribute band is that the quality of talent was minus the exorbitant fee. Many times the original members were not together any more. This is what makes a band who has fashioned themselves after a popular group of famous musicians, so compelling. Their goal is to recreate the band in its entirety. This task includes not only playing the cover songs with perfection, but also wearing the same hairstyles, sporting the same era- related clothing and mimicking the same mannerisms as those of the original artists. If the tribute band was good enough, then the response they generated from the listeners could not help but be a slam-dunk to that of the original members. In fact, in listening to some original music by “The Doors” and comparing it to demo tapes recorded by Wild Child, telling them apart was virtually impossible. Viewing footage of the “The Doors” in concert featuring Jim Morrison, the front man, was astonishing seeing how impeccably the lead singer for Wild Child brought the dynamic “Lizard King” to life with such a sense of reality. All of the hard work paid off. Wild Child was booked for the November 17 birthday bash dedicated to Jason. Their music ripped, rocked, rolled, and brought the house down.

Live Bands for a Wedding Reception

January 20th, 2012

Many people hBands, Festivals and Concerts 5ave a hard time making a decision between a DJ and or  live bands for weddings. A DJ may be a cost-effective solution, but a live band has an attraction all its own. There are many things that people will remember on your big day, the cake, flowers, but most of all the music. The entertainment is something that one cannot skimp on.

Before you can find the right band, you need to know what you are looking for. If you want a jazz or a rock n roll style band, this will help you in finding the perfect group. It is wise to ask for a demo or any material that they have to get an idea of what their style is. When choosing a band, never take the word of someone else. What works for one person’s wedding, may not work for another wedding. Some couples like  tribute bandswhile others want a mixture wedding band. of  Everyone has different styles and not all bands will work well for everyone.Another thing to consider is the price. Weddings all have a budgeted amount for entertainment. While one band may be really awesome, the price tag may put them out of the running. When selecting a band, affordability comes into play. When selecting a wedding band, the old saying “you get what you pay for” definitely comes into play.

There are some bands for weddings that do nothing more than play weddings. A good band will have other commitments, and scheduling can be a conflict. That is why it is important to make sure and book your wedding band months in advance. If it is a good band, they are going to have a full schedule and the sooner you book them, the sooner you can guarantee their appearance.

The song selection is another major part of the band. You need to have your song’s ready months in advance. The band may not play the current selections and may need time to get the proper songs organised for the big day. Even if they are songs that are regularly played, having a schedule and making sure they get the order correct may takes some time.

There is nothing more exciting than a live band. Taking requests from the audience for songs and even karaoke sing along can make the wedding day more spectacular. You can cut corners on food or even flowers, but never cut corners when it comes to the entertainment portion of the wedding, especially with the wedding bands.
